Would love to see a pic of the chase cage fitted up and the clear body mounted.

Yah no worries.

Painting will be the last thing I do, so once it's all assembled I'll get a pic with the body fitted and unpainted.

they don't fit the 5SC like they do the 5T shell TH. there's a bit of clearance all around the cage from what I can remember. IMO the TC cage doesn't really help to support the 5SC shell much at all, better than stock still but not essential.
you'll also need to extend or buy extended side body mount posts for the rear of the shell or the tires will scrub out. Craftwerks make extended billet side posts.

I thought that was the case, so wont worry about getting one for my 5sc's then

They still provide good protection for the inner parts. If your racing and you want the edge I wouldn't bother. They add un-wanted weight gain for little or no benefit. If your basing. Get one but that money could buy a lot of awesome billet hopups to make it near indestructible anyway.

Soooo,

Not a lot to report today except that the dismantling with the help of Stu has now begun.

No nasty surprises other than some shot bearings, missing screws, a well worn carbon clutch - have a look at the comparison to Stu's old carbon clutch below. im surprised it was able to stop at all!, and a TR clutch housing that seemed a little toooo modified for my liking - it has been lightened more than stock, and so isnt really safe for bashing as there are too many gaps and holes to ingest sand, dirt, and dust. Not to mention a much smaller contact patch for the clutch to grip the inside of the bell.

So with Stu's help we will order a new clutch housing and bell, ABEC 5 bearing kit , and some suspension travel savers, as well as a new brake setup and a more bash-friendly chassis.

Ive decided to give the Kracken a go and be a test dummy. So if it lasts then ill aim to throw the carbon chassis into a 5B ss at some stage.

So now with the car in bits, we wait patiently for our partssssssss

Had a bit of wrenching time with Stu today!

We ended up getting the motor accessories fitted and shock socks installed, but we cant do a great deal more until the rest of our order arrives for the awesome brake kit, and new clutch housing/bell etc.

And i also managed to take some up close photos of Stu's TC Cage and my clone cage to see what real differences there are - which ill post in another thread.

And now for the pics:

All the parts and the dissembled 5SC all together now

Stu starting on the motor while i throw on the shock socks: "leave the engine to me, you do the boring shit"

Killer bee kill switch and MSD plug lead installed

The alloy carb spacer and Teflon gasket

Bolting up the Senad filter assembly. Such a sexy piece of kit. The entire kit is well machined and the filter fits juuuuust perfect enough to seal inside the housing without being too tight and damaging the filter. Although be aware that some care should be taken when installing the filter as it is snug, so i would recommend to use your nails against the rubber of the filter to squeeze it inside of the filter housing gently.

End result

With 2 of 3 outerwears installed

Shock socks installed
